Growing Clothes, Margaret Howell.

You two have a movie in common, "Perfect Days," which was released in December last year.

Tokio: Yes, I did. However, we did not have any scenes together, so I did not meet him on the set. Looking back on today's shooting, I felt that Ms. Nakano had a depth or a sense of going deep the moment the camera was pointed at her, and I thought that her neutrality was interesting. I also thought she looked very nice in her clothes! I was just looking at them (laughs).

Nakano: Thank you very much! I was a little nervous after meeting you for the first time in a while (laugh), but I really appreciated the friendly way you talked to me and created a comfortable atmosphere for me.

Do you have any rules when it comes to choosing clothes?

Tokio: I am not at all familiar with brand names or trends, and I buy very few clothes. However, once I buy something, I tend to wear it all the time.

I have heard that Margaret Howell herself often says, "Clothes are to be nurtured. Perhaps we have that in common.

Tokio: I would be happy if we feel the same way about those aspects.

Nakano: I usually wear simple clothes. For example, I try to dress in a way that somehow brings out my original color and atmosphere. While I place importance on materials, including comfort, I also choose clothes based on my feelings, imagining myself when I wear the clothes, such as when I feel excited or matured.

Were there any items you were interested in among the ones you wore today?

Nakano: The pink shirt was so comfortable against my skin that I wanted to lay down and fall asleep straight away the moment I put the sleeves on. The color, a nuanced pink, was cute, but also had a chic look to it.

Margaret Howell herself says that the air between the skin and the clothes is very important to her, and the comfort of her clothes seems to have something to do with that. How did you become aware of the comfort of clothes in the first place?

Nakano: You are a model, right? What is clothing? When I think about it, I realize that it is something that expresses a part of me and is necessary for living. I have come to think that the ideal is for humans and clothing to be one, and that comfortable, skin-friendly clothing is very important for living together.

From this point of view, what other items caught your attention?

Nakano: I also love the fleece in collaboration with [Mizuno]. Fall and winter clothes can be stiff, but it glides well even with a jacket on top of it, and it feels natural to wear. I originally thought of Margaret Howell as a simple, sophisticated brand, but when I learned that it also has a functional side, the image of clothes that are close to the wearer came to mind.

Tokio-san, do you have any items that caught your attention?

Tokio: (I like the way the buttons are spaced. The button spacing on the jacket is just the way I like it, and I felt like I wanted to wear it. I also like the austere, autumnal colors.

Tailored fabrics that are originally used to tailor suits are used. In order to incorporate this into everyday wear, you have combined elements of work jackets and sweatshirts. Margaret Howell wants people to use tailored clothes more in their daily lives.

Tokio: I wear set-ups on a daily basis, so I thought this would be an outfit that I would want to use for a long time. I also like the green sweater because of its unusual color.

If you were to wear Margaret Howell's clothes in private, what kind of situations would you imagine?

Nakano: For example, I would like to wear the shirt and tie style when I go to an art museum. I usually like going to museums and movie theaters, and I feel that my awareness is an important element in such places, so I thought that by creating my own feelings through my clothes and going there, I would be able to feel something from the art and other things.

How about you, Tokio?

Tokio: I wear them as everyday clothes. When I choose clothes, I think about whether I can spend my days as usual, and for me, Margaret Howell's clothes allow me to spend my days as usual.
