THIS IS REMIX, NOT A REPRINT

A remix of archival designs by Takahiro Miyashita, Daisuke Genma, and Keiji Kaneko.

Many people will be surprised to see the lineup of these three designers. Takahiro Miyashita is a designer in his own right, Daisuke Genma is a producer of famous brands and stores, and Keiji Kaneko is a fashion director who runs "Kofukubure Techo," a well-known magazine in Huinamu. They came together to create a duffle coat by "INVERTERE," a brand with a long history. What is more, the design was based on the archives of Mr. Miyashita's previous designs. What is the story behind the creation of this work, which all three designers say is "a good one"? Let's hear from the three designers now.

The result is a piece of clothing that seems to exist, but doesn't.

How do you feel now that you look back on this session?

Genma: My relationship with Mr. Miyashita began when I was 20 years old, so it has been almost 30 years since I first saw him make clothes. I saw him making clothes for the first time, and I was reminded once again that they were his clothes. That was very interesting.

What exactly did you feel?

Genma: I think everyone has an image of Miyashita as a designer with a keen sensibility, but in reality, he has a tremendous understanding of the structure of clothing. In fact, he has a tremendous understanding of the structure of clothes. He knows how and where to tweak a garment to make it look the way he wants it to. This is something that not all designers can do. If I were to put on a pair of sleeves, I would want to wear clothes made by such a designer.

Kaneko: It is true that there is an overwhelming difference between clothes made by a director and those made by a designer.

Miyashita: I think that is the most important part. However, since Daisuke took the lead in this project, I wonder how much of my own color I was able to bring out in the finished product. However, I had a lot of fun working on this project.

Will the items be sold at Kaneko-san's "boutique"?

Kaneko: Yes, we do. There are not that many of them, so we recommend that you come early if you want one.

Genma: I would be happy if it sold quickly.

Kaneko: I had a sample in the store, and a customer I knew found it. He wanted to try it on, so I had him try it on, and he said he would buy it right away (laughs).

I feel that there is a growing trend to wear coats like this.

Kaneko: Yes, it is. There are plenty of classic coats, but this one has a unique atmosphere. I think this item will appeal to people who have worn old-fashioned clothes for a long time. It has the general duffel look, but it also has Miyashita's unique design, making it a piece that is both unique and original.

Genma: I also tried on a sleeve a while ago, and it was really good.

Kaneko: I secretly tried it on in all sizes, and it works well in any size. The construction is quite large, but you can wear it as if you were wearing it as a woven coat. The shoulders have a nice sloping shape, so even if you wear it large, the shoulders will fall nicely without being stretched out. I feel that many people have trouble choosing the right size.

Genma: I hope this project will not end with this one, and that the three of us can do it again.

A remix project?

Genma: Yes, yes, the remix project. I like the idea of remixing Miyashita's designs. Anyway, I want to make clothes that I want to wear and that the three of us can wear together.

Miyashita: That would be nice.

Does this mean that the second phase of the project is about to begin?

Genma: No, that hasn't been decided yet (laughs). There are a lot of Miyashita's designs that I would like to wear but can't, so I would like to find something among them. Actually, there are clothes that I think "this might be good," but I can't say yet. I am planning to propose it to Mr. Miyashita at the best time.

Miyashita: At any rate, it would be interesting to make this project a guerrilla one.

Kaneko: Sounds like fun. Let's do it again!
