When you think of Tibet, you think of the Dalai Lama. I think that's about the extent of the image, but the problems it faces are very deep-rooted.
Tibet is still ruled by China, and if one tries to appeal for Tibetan independence there, he or she will be imprisoned. Therefore, if you want to appeal for Tibet's freedom, you have to come from outside. That is how Adam Yauk of the Beastie Boys organized the "Tibetan Freedom Concert.
This T-shirt was worn at the third event, held in Washington, DC in 1998. It was one year before the Japan event. It has some signs of use, but I can feel the spirit of its predecessor.
It is good to have a political message through a T-shirt, without horniness. But then again, being square is not a bad thing either.
