Silk fabrics are famous in Yamanashi, and the fabrics woven in the Kobayashi-house atelier are made on shuttle looms that have existed for over 100 years. Weaving at low speed on an analog machine keeps the natural fullness of the threads intact, giving the fabric a slight shimmer and depth.

The rebranding was initiated by Ms. Suga, a fashion designer based in Milan, and photographers/videographers Mr. Takahara and Ms. Yasuda, with the aim of introducing the silk weaving techniques and culture possessed by "Kobayashi House" to the rest of the world.

As our first initiative, we created jackets and pants for photographers that combine traditional techniques with modern functionality and aesthetics.

While using the signature silk of "KOBAYASHI HOUSE," we have developed an original fabric inspired by kimono tsumugi fabric. The result is a fabric that is tough enough to withstand the movements of daily life, while maintaining the elegance of silk.
