What do you think of when people say "the invisible"? It seems that there are ancient spiritual things, of course, but that is not the only thing that comes to mind.
The work he created on such a theme will be exhibited at "INHERTIT GALLERY" in Mishuku, Tokyo. The artistRay FuruichiThe following is a collection of "Oni" paintings by
Ray started drawing demons when he was 7 years old. His father, a graphic designer, used to draw them and he imitated his father's drawings.
Ray, who believes that what is invisible is subconscious awareness and memory, uses a technique called "automatism," in which he draws invisible ogres as symbols by unconsciously moving his hands. One day, when he had lost sight of himself, he began to look back on his life by remembering the ogre pictures he had drawn in the past and drawing them anew.
The exhibit, which depicts a journey of memory from the past to the present in the world of demons, includes 20 oil paintings and an art book. A limited edition of 35 T-shirts silkscreened with motifs from his works will also be available for purchase. The exhibition is scheduled to open this weekend, so if you are in the area, be sure to stop by.
