The impressive four-story "Arc'teryx Shinjuku Brand StoreThe "Arc'teryx Ikebukuro Tobu Brand Store" opened on November 30 last year. Less than a year later, we opened the "Arc'teryx Ikebukuro Tobu Brand Store.
In Huinamu, we visited the store with stylist Masanori Takahashi to get a fashion perspective on the appeal of "Arc'teryx. First of all, let me explain what kind of space this store is.
It is located on the first floor of the Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro Main Store, which is directly connected to Ikebukuro Station, a huge terminal where approximately 2.3 million people pass through every day. It is one of the largest brand stores in Japan, combining the sales floor, the "ReBIRD™ Service Center" for repairs and maintenance, and a community space on a single floor. Since it is on one floor, you can go around and see all the products.
The full line includes outdoor apparel, footwear, backpacks, and even an urban line, Veilance.
In addition to "Veilance," the store displays other categories such as alpine, hike, climb, trek, and snow. In addition, there is an extensive lineup of accessories such as socks, hats, belts, and bags. In terms of hard shells, popular items representing the brand such as the Beta AR Jacket and Beta SL Jacket are also available.
Because the brand has a wide range of categories and color variations, it is nice to be able to see them all on one floor.

Designed to last" is an important policy of Arc'teryx. The Ikebukuro store has a corner that embodies this policy. This is the ReBIRD™ Service Center. The ReBIRD™ Service Center offers a comprehensive program to "maximize the life" of Arc'teryx products, from day-to-day care to repairing damaged gear and sharing knowledge.
This is the third store in Japan to have a ReBIRD™ Service Center, following Shinjuku and Sapporo. The ReBIRD™ Service Center uses a special washing machine and detergent to remove dirt from Arc'teryx apparel brought in by users and restore its functionality. The store also replaces damaged zip sliders and drawstrings, and repairs fraying using a lockstitch. Depending on the extent of the damage, a normal repair would take several months as the work is sent to a maintenance center, but here it is basically done in a day.
In addition to repairs, our full-time staff can provide direct lectures and consultations on how to care for your equipment at home and how to properly maintain it. By performing maintenance, you can use the product for a long time while maintaining its functionality.
Moreover, all work performed in the ReBIRD™ Service Center is free of charge. I'm going to say this twice because it's important, but it's free. This shows how serious Arcteryx is about customer service and "Designed to last".
Free of charge? That's amazing. I once washed a Gore-Tex shell jacket at home with a special detergent and ironed it ....... It certainly restored functionality, but it was very hard work. It would be great to have this done for me."
A community space to learn and connect.
A community space is located in the back of the store. It provides a space where customers can relax and enjoy conversation with other customers and staff.
Community boards introducing Arc'teryx ambassadors and staff, the ReBIRD™ philosophy, event information, and other "people, things, and things" of the brand are hung on the walls, as well as a bookstore for mountain lovers in Omachi City, the gateway to the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in Nagano Prefecture. To celebrate the opening, purchasers of 70,000 yen or more including tax will receive a novelty as a special gift. The contents of the gift are all one-of-a-kind Azuma Bags made of Gore-Tex fabric, which was used for the advertisement hanging in the JR Yamanote Line when the Shinjuku brand store opened in November 2024.
In addition, during November, workshops will be held where visitors can experience making things from scraps of "Arc'teryx" apparel. One is an upcycling experience (reservations required) to create original pouches by reusing advertising materials from the Shinjuku store opening, and another is to make charms from leftover GORE-TEX fabric and ribbon, which visitors to the store can casually participate in. Both are part of the ReBIRD™ experience, where visitors can learn about "preserving functionality for a long time" through hands-on activities.

Stylist Masanori Takahashi, who also uses Arc'teryx in his private life, explains the appeal of this brand from a fashion point of view.
First, Ms. Takahashi picked up an outfit from the "Veilance" corner of the Urban Line, perhaps because of her profession as a stylist.

The "Field Jacket" is the one I would like to use as a styling item. The navy color called "Passport" is a great color, and the pockets are understated and not military-like. It reminds me of a modern, high quality jacket from a high brand. I think it would look great with slacks, too.

It's the "Conduit Down Jacket" in black. It is absolutely warm because the original brand is an outdoor brand (laughs). When I actually tried it on, it was extremely warm even with just a T-shirt on. And the all-black color makes it look very street-oriented, but it has a glossy, elegant look, like Japanese paper.
Covert Cardigan 29,700 yen
I am also interested in the fleece "Covert Cardigan. Fleece is warm and easy to move around in, so I actually wear it everywhere, outside and at home. It's also easy to move my shoulders and arms, so it's perfect for moving around in the car. This item is not too narrow and not too long, so it is easy to balance. The color, "Roadster Heather," is an exquisite blue that is typical of Arc'teryx. If I wear my own shell over it, it is perfect in terms of functionality.
KONSEAL GORE-TEX 37,400 yen
In terms of shoes, I like this "KONSEAL GORE-TEX". Low-tech sneakers and other low-volume designs are popular nowadays. I like the simplicity of this seemingly undesigned look. I feel that it has a wide range of fashionable features that can be worn with anything, even slacks, as a matter of course, for its ease of wear and functionality."

I also thought the "Sabre Relaxed Pant" snow pants would be interesting to use in styling. The three-dimensional cutting of the knees not only allows for ease of movement, but also creates a unique silhouette.
