STONE ISLAND is often categorized as a “streetwear brand.” However, its journey—which began with the handiwork of artisans and evolved into a contemporary luxury brand—bears a certain resemblance to the history of other high-end brands.
Although it may not yet be commonly referred to as such, *Stone Island* may already be positioned very close to the ranks of high-end brands. This is because its quality has literally reached the very pinnacle of the “high-end” market.
Even when it comes to indigo—a fabric that has been cherished for centuries—there is no end to the fascinating details they create.

Today we’re featuring the collection from “DENIM RESEARCH,” a project launched last year with the aim of redefining the concept of denim. Specifically, we’re highlighting items made from compact nylon that utilizes “hollow-fiber” technology. By creating a hollow core within the yarn, the fabric achieves a surprising balance of lightweight comfort and thermal insulation. Yet, the fabric retains substantial thickness and body, conveying a sense of high-quality material at first glance.
What truly stands out is the innovative dyeing process. By blending indigo pigment with a special resin to create a garment-dyed finish, and then applying a delicate bleaching treatment, the brand achieves a subtle, textured effect. Giving high-tech materials a vintage-like depth—this very contradiction is what defines the brand’s true essence.
The hood also has a vintage-style worn look.
The jacket made from this fabric is a pullover style that blends perfectly with the spring atmosphere. Its light, effortless look—simply throwing it on over your clothes without a second thought—is exactly what the season calls for.
These pants, made from the same fabric, feature a beautiful silhouette that’s loose-fitting yet slightly tapered. By adjusting the drawstring at the hem, you can freely change the look of the bottom and enjoy the versatility.
The left sleeve features a "Denim Research" badge with a blue compass logo embroidered on a black background.
The rivets adorning key areas add a stylish touch.
In addition, both the jacket and pants feature the same pocket design, creating a cohesive look. Furthermore, don’t overlook the subtle faded detailing, which extends all the way to the anorak’s hood and the drawstrings at the hem of the pants.
This almost obsessive attention to detail is a clear sign of true craftsmanship. The day when *Stone Island* is recognized as a luxury brand in both name and reality may be just around the corner.
