It has been a while since the term "regional development" became a familiar one. Each prefecture has come up with a variety of elaborate plans, and this time we would like to introduce you to Gifu Prefecture.
Blessed with forests covering approximately 80% of the prefecture's land area and clean water growing from them, Gifu Prefecture, known as "Gifu, the Land of Clear Streams," is a treasure house of natural and cultural heritage.
In early September, the "FEEL GIFUA promotional event titled "Sightseeing, Food, and Goods" was held in New York to convey the charms of the prefecture.
Here is a quick look at the pattern.
A new lifestyle store, "A New Japanese Style Created by Creation and Refinement," is located in Midtown, Tokyo, offering a new lifestyle.THE COVER NIPPON".
At the NY store, which opened in May 2016, a corner of products from Gifu Prefecture was developed. The store was decorated with displays using Mino washi, and corners were set up throughout the store featuring specialty products from Gifu Prefecture, such as Minoyaki tableware and Hida wood products.
Next up was sake, and the first sake fair for a Japanese municipality was held at ASTOR Wines & Spirits, the largest liquor store in New York City. Five sake breweries from Gifu Prefecture sold their products over-the-counter and 12 breweries set up tasting booths.
And then there is the unusual collaboration between Gifu Prefecture and Ippudo, a restaurant specializing in tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen.
“ENGINEERED GARMENTSIppudo New York, which is still fresh in the minds of ramen fans and New Yorkers alike, has been gaining tremendous attention as a hip place to eat.
During the event, special menu items were served, and Gifu's local sake was sampled and sold at the sake bar attached to the restaurant.
The last one is a Japanese restaurant where NY celebrities gather.EN Japanese BrasserieA special menu featuring products from Gifu Prefecture is being served at the "Hida Beef Restaurant. Hida beef, raised with the blessings of nature such as seasonal temperature differences and temperature differences between day and night, is loved by many fans both in Japan and abroad as a specialty of Gifu Prefecture.
What did you think? It may not be Cool Japan, but I think we need to continue to make efforts to convey the wonders of Japan to the "outside world" in this way.
