Come to think of it, drawing may be the starting point of our creativity.
The act of drawing with one's hands is the source of all kinds of ideas, and when one looks back on it later, it will bring back old memories. With just one pen, children and adults of all ages can do it.
A hands-on event focusing on this will be held in Osaka in late May called "Hermes Drawing Festival". Anyone can participate and feel the joy of freedom in drawing.
Visitors will be welcomed by "pencil riders" who will introduce them to the world of Hermès' drawings and take them on a tour of several workshops set up at the venue. In addition to a horse-shaped easel that allows visitors to draw in various positions and a giant tie object for the subject, visitors can enjoy painting on a giant wall, improvising sketches, coloring Hermès' "Carré" scarf, and other projects.
In addition, a talk show will be held during the exhibition. The speakers will be Shinsuke Kawahara, an artist active in Paris and Japan since the 1980s, and Olivier Wicker, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Le Monde d'Hermès" (The World of Hermès), first published in 1973.
Drawing is also a source of creation for Hermès, and it is said that Robert Dumas, the fourth president of Hermès, sketched in his notebook when he was walking in a port in Normandy and was inspired by an anchor chain for the "Chaine d'Angles" bracelet.
Pierre-Alexis Dumas, who currently oversees the artistic direction of the Maison as a whole, says, "Drawing is a magical thread that connects all genres, bringing abundant joy, lightness, and unlimited freedom to our lives.
The event, which is free of charge, will take place at Umekita Park in "Grand Green Osaka" for four days starting on Thursday, May 28.
Please note that some workshops and talk sessions will require reservations. For more information, please visit the official website here.
