HIKE, a cultural hub in Tamana, Kumamoto, is coming to Tokyo! The first pop-up store will be held at SHIPS Tokyo store.

While everything is growing at an ever-advancing pace, it is also true that we are still attracted to the wonderful warmth of human touch. You will surely feel this again at the pop-up held at the SHIPS Shibuya Store starting today, June 5 (Fri.).

The pop-up is hosted by "HIKE. It is a hostel, cafe, and store run by Mitsuru Sato, a former SHIPS graphic designer, and Yoko Fukuda, a former women's buyer, in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture. The duo traveled around the world and were inspired by the various cultures and communities they found here, and the store is now attracting attention as a hub of Kumamoto culture.

This is their first pop-up in Tokyo, and as such, there will be a full lineup of contents.

The “HIKE” section carefully selects and introduces handicrafts rooted in the local area, such as "Ojiro-yaki", a traditional craft nurtured by the rich climate of Kumamoto, "Kinoha Saroo", a local toy that has a history of about 1,300 years but is now inherited by only one shop, and "Yamachiku", which continues to make bamboo chopsticks of pure domestic quality. HIKE" carefully selects and introduces "handicrafts rooted in the land.

In addition, baked sweets from "SAVEUR Confectionary Shop," a confectionary store in Denenchofu supervised by confectionary researcher Rika Fukuda and produced by fashion brand YAECA, will also make an appearance.

In addition, there are hot spring towels made by the dyeing studio “Yotsume Dyeing Cloth House,” HIKE's original mandarin orange juice made from naturally grown mandarin oranges from Kumamoto Prefecture, squeezed from the whole peel, and shopping baskets from the brand "Aburaboku" by the bamboo craft artist Hinoko Ito, The lineup includes items not usually seen in Tokyo.
