Photographer.Sayo Nagasewill hold its first solo exhibition in about a year at GALLERY 360° in Minami Aoyama, starting on Thursday, November 9.
The title VOID means "nothingness" or "emptiness. The technique used to bring to the surface a world whose reality is difficult to grasp is to re-photograph a woman's leg on a contact sheet of snapshots taken by the photographer, using the lens of a microscope.
The rough, close-up shots of body parts evoke the textures of canals flowing through space and the surfaces of celestial bodies, inviting the viewer to enter an infinite space.
A photo book of the same title was simultaneously released in conjunction with this exhibition. HerInstagramIn other words, "THE VOID" can only be completed by reading through both exhibitions.
Although her creations are experimental and innovative, never losing her willingness to try new things, I feel that the message is delivered to the viewer without any confusion. This is the certain charm of Sayo Nagase's works. This solo exhibition is definitely a must-see.
