Furniture built to last possesses a charm that never fades, even as times change. The “Nychair X,” designed by Takeshi Ni in 1970, is one such piece. With its foldable design and comfortable seating, it is a classic chair that has been cherished for over half a century.
From "Nichea X" comes the Limited Edition 2027. As the second installment in the limited-edition series following the 2024 release, this collection draws inspiration from materials and colors rooted in Japanese daily life, such as earthen walls and persimmon-tannin dye.

The seat features “Warm Taupe.” It is characterized by warm hues reminiscent of earthen walls and persimmon-tanned fabrics. The armrests are made of oak and finished in a deep brown that evokes the look of smoked reclaimed wood. This subdued color scheme provides a striking contrast to the soft tones of the seat.
The brand tag features the words “Limited Edition 2027” specially woven into the fabric, and other details unique to this limited-edition model are incorporated throughout. Replacement seat covers are also available for the main unit (¥19,250) and the ottoman (¥9,350).
The release date is Thursday, January 14, 2027. Ahead of this, a four-day limited exhibition will be held in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, from Saturday, October 31, through Tuesday, November 3 (a national holiday). The new collection will be unveiled for the first time at the venue, and special advance reservations will be accepted exclusively for attendees. In addition to the new collection, limited quantities of the classic “Oil Finish” and “Oriato” models will be available for purchase. Items that sustained minor scratches during production or distribution, as well as products made from recycled replacement seats, will also be offered at special prices.
The spatial design is being handled by “Hljóð,” a flower shop in Shimo-Ochiai, Tokyo. By incorporating everyday flowers and plants, they create a scene that naturally draws your gaze downward to your feet when you sit in a chair. The venue will also feature quotes from Takeshi Niihira, the creator of the “Nee Chair X.” Sit in a chair and gaze at the view before you. Through these simple, everyday moments, the exhibition invites you to discover a personal space just for yourself within the rhythm of daily life.
