Knee Chair X celebrates its 55th anniversary. There will be a limited edition oil finish model and some events.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the "Nychair X," a chair designed by Takeshi Nii and famously referred to as "a chair that looks like curry rice. To commemorate the occasion, a limited edition model will be released and events will be held.

The casual looks, the convenience of folding, and the comfort of being wrapped up in a chair. Despite its uniqueness, the Knee Chair-X has been consistently popular and has recently been reevaluated, but it has a long history.

At the event to be held at "Annon Harajuku," visitors will be able to learn how the "Knee Chair X" was born from the approach taken. The event will exhibit documentary photos that trace the trajectory and ideas of the product, and how it fit into people's daily lives. In addition, the 55th anniversary limited edition items will be unveiled at the event and pre-orders will be released.

The limited-quantity items will be available for pre-order starting Tuesday, December 17 at select "Knee Chair-X" retailers and the official online store, and will go on sale on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

First, based on the concept of "as it is, as nature intended it to be," there are three types of knee chair X, knee chair X rocking, and knee chair X ottoman finished with oil. Normally, beach wood is coated with urethane resin, but the oil-finish finish allows the user to better appreciate the texture and grain of the wood.

Oil finishes have appeared occasionally in the past, but this time the sheets are different. In addition to the standard white, the lineup includes the new colors Sage Green and Peple Gray. These softer shades will also be available as replacement seats for the chairs (¥18,700) and ottomans (¥8,800).

In addition, the well-received "Knee Chair-X 2024 Model" will also be placed in limited quantities. In addition, there will be a special "RE: Knee Chair-X" price for products that have been slightly scratched during the production or distribution process or replacement seats that have been refurbished, and a domestically produced care brush will be given to those who purchase a Knee Chair-X unit at the event.

During the event, bonsai by Momoshoen, rugs by Hotta Carpet, fragrances by elemense, and mouton rugs by Atmada Bedding will also be available.
