This Peruvian knitwear was created in collaboration with Nakayama Shoten, which has been producing locally in Peru and India for over 30 years. Originally, Nakayama Shoten focused on the disparity between rich and poor in Peru and started this project to contribute to improving the lives of the indigenous people without destroying their traditional communities, and the origin of the project was to teach knitting techniques to the people of Puno, a city in Peru. The project has built a knit production base and system from scratch and continues to make products.
This time, "Freaks Store" ordered designs directly from the local market and released three men's and four women's models. The women's knitwear, which was already on sale, sold well, and the store has already placed several re-orders with local knitters. Cardigan-type items were especially popular, and some people even bought them on the day of the reception. The cardigans are loose and cute when worn loosely, and it is a pity that there are no men's cardigans available.
The carefully knitted knitwear has a fluffy finish and is strong and durable enough not to be shaken when the fabric is pulled. The knitwear made in Puno, where the temperature is close to zero degrees Celsius in winter, has excellent heat retention properties, and the staff members wearing the knitwear indoors looked a little hot.
The reception, which included Peruvian food and drinks, was a great success. 200 people attended the reception, which lasted only 3 hours.
The person in charge says that the best way for the "Freaks Store" to give back to the knitters who continue to make knitwear by hand while meeting expectations in an environment that is never good for them is to "bring smiles and voices to the people who pick up the knitted items.
