BEAMS Japan, a new landmark in Shinjuku, introduces Japanese culture, from otaku culture to traditional crafts, with a mix of soft and hard elements from the unique perspective of BEAMS. As a new project of BEAMS, which has been "Japanizing" Japan, "BEAMS EYE on KOBE," a collaborative project with Kobe City, started on September 30 (Fri.), 2010.
In addition, a guidebook that captures the charms of the city of Kobe from the unique perspective of BEAMS will be produced and sold at BEAMS stores prior to the nationwide release of the guidebook.
First, let's talk about the events taking place at the store.
In planning the products, we have selected sundries, jewelry, bags, sweets, sake, seasonings, and other items from Kobe, a city that is known for its craftsmanship, and while respecting the quality of the items themselves, we have also added our own ideas to create limited edition products. All of these items will be on display at the event space on the first floor of BEAMS Japan in Shinjuku until October 31 (Mon.). At the restaurant "Nikko Kanaya Hotel Craft Grill" on the basement floor of the same store, sake selected for this project, which is the pride of Kobe, will be on the menu for a limited time and can be enjoyed with Japanese Western cuisine. Meanwhile, "BEAMS Kobe" in Sannomiya, Kobe, will introduce limited-edition products and guidebooks in a corner until October 10 (Mon.), except for a few items.

Next, let's talk about books.
It has been four years since the publication of "BEAMS' Okinawa" travel guidebook, which was released in 2012 under the concept of "the second guidebook. The next destination that BEAMS will guide visitors to is Kobe, which will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of its port in 2017. To be honest, when I heard about this, I wondered why Kobe and not Osaka or Kyoto? But, as it turns out, Kobe has a lot to offer in the areas of fashion, food, culture, and lifestyle that we just don't know about. Based on information from BEAMS staff in the Kansai area and local creators, the guidebook is a beautiful visual guidebook that includes in-depth coverage of Kobe, one of Japan's representative port cities, and photographs taken by photographer Taro Hirano.

Beams delves into the charms of Kobe in two ways: exhibitions and books. Whether you choose to enter Kobe through the things or the books, you are sure to want to go there. It is also perfect for those in the Kansai region who are tired of the standard tourist attractions such as Osaka and Kyoto.
