This group of artists has exhibited at the Shiseido Gallery, Setouchi International Art Festival, Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial, and other venues, and has brought surprising and exciting experiences to all who have seen their work. The group consists of artist Akika Aragami (b. 1983), director Kenji Minamikawa (b. 1979), and production supervisor Hirofumi Masui (b. 1980), who combine brilliant ideas with the skills and teamwork to give shape to them.
Art that surprises may sound like an overused cliché, but if you have actually seen his work, you will probably understand that he is different from ordinary artists. For those who have never seen his work, please search for his project "The Day My Uncle's Face Floats in the Sky" at the Utsunomiya Museum of Art in 2014, or "The Establishment of Speculation" at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial in 2015.
Their latest exhibition, "Eyes In BEPPU," will be held in Beppu from November 5 (Sat.) to December 2 (Fri.). In BEPPU" is an art festival in the form of a solo exhibition to be held in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, known as Japan's premier hot spring tourist destination, which will be launched in 2016. As the successor to the Beppu Contemporary Art Festival "Mixed Bathing World" (held three times since 2009 and completed in 2015), the idea is to realize an art project by a group of internationally active artists every fall that takes advantage of local characteristics.
The first artist to be selected was the internationally renowned art team "Me". The exhibition, which will be held in a corner of Beppu City Hall, will create a mysterious space that will transform the scenery of everyday life. Please note that reservations are required to view this work in the form of a tour.

Naturally, I can understand why some people might say, "Why go all the way to Oita just to admire artworks? Art and hot springs. Both are a feature of autumn. Even if you don't live in Kyushu or its suburbs, a weekend trip to enjoy art and hot springs is a great way to spend the weekend.
