Pull the Wool, a publishing label that produces art books with young artists such as Yoko Kusano and Vaughan.
Under the label's auspices, "RUSTLE OF THE MORNING STARS," a photography exhibition by Alexander Spohle, will be held at "MIDORI.so2 GALLERY" in Commune 2nd on Sunday, May 6, the last day of Golden Week.
Alexander Spohle is a young photographer from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, who has been attracting attention in recent years, including being selected as a New Dutch Talent last year.

The theme of this body of work is to bring awareness to what cannot be seen or heard in our daily way of thinking. He believes that the medium for this is photographic expression.
Most of the exhibited works are printed with black ink on black paper, creating a composition that contrasts beautifully with the small number of color works. With so many choices in both ink and printing paper, the choice to use only black seems to be a limiting factor. The manner in which the numerous choices are available, yet restrictive, may have some overlap with our everyday way of thinking.
The images, taken during his two months in Japan, are presented in two different printing methods, and are a reaffirmation of our consciousness and unconsciousness.

It is difficult to define the concept of the real world and time through photographic expression. Photography, however, provides a gateway to another world, and through it, an escape from the usual routine. People who see the photographs are mentally triggered to question the very things that make up their daily reality. The window to the subconscious is then opened, and they are able not only to become aware of this, but also to construct their own daily lives.
