Club DV8 Unveils the Keith Haring Room, 1986
Keith Haring was one of the most celebrated artists of the 1980s. Haring, who first came to prominence with his subway drawings of graffiti on advertising boards in New York City subways, left behind a wide range of works, from paintings and sculptures to animations, until his death at the young age of 31. Many of his socially-conscious works, which promoted the renunciation of nuclear weapons, the prevention of AIDS, and the coming out of LGBT people, were extremely influential at the time of his death. Even now, nearly 30 years after his death, many people still support his work.
And on August 9 (Thu.), an exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of Haring's birth will be held at the "Haring's 60th Birthday" exhibition.Omotesando HillsHeld at the "Tokyo International Forum. Many exhibits are being displayed for the first time in Tokyo!

The highlight of the exhibition is the 58 posters that are representative of Haring's work. Some of them are commercial works, such as "Absolut Vodka" and "Swatch," and are worth seeing at least once, even if you are not a fan. In addition, a video of Haring's live drawings made during his visit to Japan in 1988 will be shown for the first time in Tokyo! The picture quality may not be the best, but you can feel the realism of the event.
There will be a corner with comments from celebrities such as Peter Barakan and Seiko Ito, who love Haring, as well as a merchandise store.

The walls of the venue will feature monogram images that Haring also painted on the walls of his own gallery. Visitors are also free to take pictures of any of the works in the exhibition space, no matter how many photos they take for social networking purposes!
This is a unique opportunity to see all of Haring's works in one place. And admission is free. Let's come and see his precious works while thinking about the message he continued to send throughout his life!
