Simply put, the Tokyo Performing Arts Festival is a performance arts festival centered on theater and dance. While aiming to connect with the world by inviting directors and other artists from overseas, the Tokyo Arts Festival also aims to enhance Tokyo's creativity by showing its diverse and profound arts and culture to people inside and outside the city. In the mid- to long-term, we will work to solve social issues, develop people and the city, and respond to globalization.
The general director is Satoshi Miyagi, who is also the artistic director of the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center. He is a highly acclaimed person in Japan and abroad who continues to bring world-class theater to Shizuoka Prefecture while also creating his own productions.
The program lineup ranges from paid to free. Although the programs are free, they are by no means short on content, and the festival offers a wide range of free programs in the interest of an open art festival.
