This year's exhibition, "Fuchs / TTP" by Hayahisa Tomiyasu, a Japanese photographer living in Europe, will be held from December 23 (Sun., holiday).
. is based on the photo book of the same name, "TTP. Tomiyasu is currently based in Leipzig, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland. This year, this book attracted much attention when it was published as the winner of the Grand Prix of the "First Book Award" sponsored by the renowned British publishing house MACK, which aims to support the publication of artists who have never published a photo book in the past. In this exhibition, slides of works excerpted from "TTP" will be shown along with "Fuchs," the predecessor to this work and the inspiration for its creation. Incidentally, the title "TTP" is an abbreviation of the German word "Tischtennisplatte (, ping-pong table ). Fuchs" means "fox.
So, what kind of work is "TTP"?
The work consists of photographs taken in Leipzig, Germany, from the window of a room in the student dormitory where Mr. Tomiyasu lived at the time, focusing on a ping-pong table placed in a park overlooking the south-facing room on the eighth floor, and photographed objectively and neutrally using Deadpan style(, a technique that suppresses subjectivity, sentiment, and dramatic exaggeration to the extent possible. The images were taken from a fixed point of view, using the Dedpan style), a method of portraying the subject objectively and neutrally, with subjectivity, sentimentality, and dramatic exaggeration suppressed as much as possible. . In the meantime, the time of day, the seasons, and the people visiting the park change.
