Even in HOUYHNHNM.I've reported on it often. The "Chugoku Market" is one of the most popular market events in the Chugoku region. The Trunk MarketIt's a great event. The lineup of stores that can only be found here, and the mood that makes everyone who comes to the event happy is simply the best.
HOUYHNHNM's, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary next year, is also considering such an event, and I visited Hiroshima again this time in the hope of learning something from this event.
This year's event marked a new start for the 11th edition after the milestone 10th edition. As Kengo Nakamoto, head of the planning office of "The Trunk Market," said, "A fresh start," many stores opened for the first time.
We will pick up a few stores that caught our attention from HOUYHNHNM's point of view.

HIGHTIDE
HIGHTIDE, a Fukuoka-based stationery and sundry goods manufacturer, started with a single notebook. All men like HIGHTIDE, don't they? We entered the venue with a dark gray HIGHTIDE truck!
The stationery and organizers are also considered a part of fashion that expresses oneself, and the products are all uplifting just to have them. The colorful and pop items were very popular among children.

New Yoshiwara (character)
Shin Yoshiwara" is gaining popularity as a chic Edo souvenir. As the name suggests, this brand bears the name of Yoshiwara, the most famous soap town in Japan.
Yoshiwara is a colorful town with a long history that has appeared in Kabuki plays and novels, and was the birthplace of various fads and culture as a brothel during the Edo period. The history of Yoshiwara is incorporated into souvenirs, and these souvenirs are very witty.
The chic souvenirs designed by Yayoi Okano, a souvenir vendor born and raised in Yoshiwara, were also unique here at "The Trunk Market.

THE HUNT
The HUNT, a Fukuoka-based industrial lighting specialty store, was using an exceptionally large space to display their items. Under the concept of "providing cool and better products to Frank," the shop purchases items from Europe and the U.S. in bulk and maintains them by themselves.
This may have been worth it, but all items are surprisingly priced. If you were to buy the same item in Tokyo, it would be 30-40% more expensive. No, some items were even better priced than that. The fact that these stores are participating so casually in "The Trunk Market" is what makes it so interesting and amazing.

One of the characteristics of The Trunk Market is the large number of people with children. Thorough attention is paid to creating a space where everyone can enjoy themselves in peace. There is also a well-equipped kids' space.
These photo studios are also very popular every time. They offer a stylish view of the world that you would never be able to capture in a photo studio.

YOUNG & OLSEN The DRYGOODS STORE
This is also the first time HOUYHNHNM's well-known talent, Yuhi Ozaki, is involved with YOUNG & OLSEN The DRYGOODS STORE, which will open its first store.
His friend, Tatsumasa Onuki, a designer of "Westoveralls" and other brands, also came to the store to watch over the store together.
The matching aprons are extremely cute, but the items on display are just as cute. In addition to items from the Young & Olsen The Dry Goods Store, the shop also has a great selection of small items purchased overseas!
The lineup of accessories that vividly point to the brand's world view and direction, and that have the scent of the American Southwest, is as you can see. It is not easy to buy these items even if you are thinking of buying them, so the ironclad rule is to buy them immediately if you become interested in them.

White Mountaineering
White Mountaineering, which participated for the first time in about four years, rethought the outdoors and gear, and from "W.M.B.C.," which started as a new line, a lineup of mainly collaboration items with "Helinox" was developed. The lineup was mainly collaboration items with Helinox.
A full selection of tents, cots, and mobile chairs.
Limited edition T-shirts only for this event were also available. It is rare for a brand to open a store at such a market event, so this was a refreshing change.

Woolrich
WOOLRICH, the oldest outdoor brand in the United States with a history of 187 years, is making a new start by copying its base to GOLDWIN, which handles THE NORTH FACE and other brands.
The collection boasts a high degree of perfection, where authentic functionality and modern design coexist. The newly completed store in Minami-Aoyama has a wonderful sense of class.
On the other hand, there is also a cute side that uses a sheep's mark as its logo. It is a high-casual brand for adults.

Items from the recently reopened WIND AND SEA were on display. Here is a quick shot of Takashi Kumagai, director of the store.
So, we ran down and picked up a few stores that caught our attention. The most distinctive feature of "The Trunk Market" is that it is friendly but offers authentic products. One of the best parts of the market is that you can observe how the culture centering on fashion is spread to various people.
I feel like I am always saying the same thing, but anyway, please go there at least once. I am sure you will understand that I am not exaggerating when I say that I praise it every time.
