Based in Kagoshima Prefecture, he is a woodworker who is active in Japan and abroad.Shoji Morinagawill hold an exhibition at Graphpaper in the HIBIYA CENTRAL MARKET.
Morinaga's work dares to expose the traces of wood grain and knots that have been cultivated through the tree's life activities. Therefore, even if the same species of wood is used, each piece will have a different appearance.
The lineup of works in this exhibition makes full use of a technique called wood turning, in which wood is carved and shaped on a wood lathe. The wood is carved out of raw wood, and the cracks and warping that occur during the drying process are what draws the viewer's attention.
You are guaranteed to feel the life of the wood as if the work were breathing. The exhibition opens on Saturday, January 12, so be sure to stop by.
. Mr. Morinaga is scheduled to be at the store on the first day of the event.
