Lecture-type content on the relationship between skateboarding and various factors.HOUYHNHNM SKATEBOARD CLUB (HOUYHNHNM SKATEBOARD CLUB)Photographer Taro Hirano, who hosts at As detailed in this article, he has been actively presenting his own work in recent years.
Now, a new work, "I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM," has been published. The theme of this book is "Wallows," a famous spot in Hawaii that appears in the 1987 skateboard video "The Search for Animal Chin. Hirano was fascinated by this video as a boy, and since then, he has been freeing the feelings that have been growing in his heart, and has completed a collection of photographs taken there.
The photo book also seems to include comments from the members of "Bones Brigade," who performed at the time, making it an unintentionally spine-tingling experience for skate lovers.
This work will be published by "sign," a publishing label produced by the fashion brand DESCENDANT. Each season, DESCENDANT's catalogs feature emotional pages with photographs by Hirano and writings by Toru Nishiyama, the founder of DESCENDANT, and the bond between these two elementary school classmates is well known.
In conjunction with the publication of the book, a solo exhibition of the same title will be held at "BOOKMARC". On the first day of the opening, Mr. Hirano will hold a signing session for those who have purchased the book, and "sign" novelties will be distributed as a commemorative gift to visitors. In addition, screen-printed T-shirts and tote bags produced by "Dissendant" will be on sale during the exhibition.
This exhibition is a must-see for those who have been involved in skateboarding culture, even if only for a short time.
