Small-scale music events held at live houses and clubs, especially those featuring edgy artists, tend to target the so-called "core audience," and are usually in the form of a live band. This is especially true for regional events, which are less commercially successful due to the smaller core population and higher travel and other costs for artists in rural areas. For this reason, it is fair to say that when booking up-and-coming artists in rural areas, either the organizers or the artists are taking a risk.
To counter this situation, the first installment of the "FUNGI" party will be held on June 30 with the aim of continuously connecting up-and-coming artists with music lovers and young talents living in the region. The venue is MAIRO, a long-established live house in Toyama.
This party combines artists according to the theme, and also produces music, space, and food in a consistent manner. In other words, the venue is a rural live music venue, but the content is hybrid and experimental.

Beside her, there will be a performance by Akiko Nakayama, an artist who uses the energy of color and flow to create a living picture, and Yosuke Yukimatsu, a disc jockey who transcends time and borders, will enliven the venue. From the local scene, Toyama's DJCJ, who has performed at BLACKSHEEP, Forestlimit, bonobo, and other venues outside of the prefecture, will support the event. The SUID, a unit of flower arrangers and gardeners who perform at art museums and other venues, will create a psychedelic installation at the venue.
A night of quality music, space, and food all in one place, and all at a local live house in Toyama. This party is sure to be a catalyst for future attempts like this to take place all over the country. We look forward to seeing you there!
