Photographer Taro Mizutani has long been a leading fashion photographer. In recent years, his sharp sensibility can be seen in his sessions with "HYKE" and others.
The photo book introduced here is a collection of personal work taken during a visit to Oregon, U.S., to shoot a movie for THE NORTH FACE and HYKE's capsule collection "THE NORTH FACE × HYKE". The North Face x HYKE capsule collection.
Lethe( Lethe)" means "river of memory" in Greek mythology and "forgetting" in ancient Greek. This work will be a vast record of memories of landscapes seen unconsciously from the window of a passenger's car as the car continues to drive through the shifting scenes from the city to the suburbs and through the mountains to the land.
In other words, these are not landscape photographs with an agenda, but rather a group of photographs of landscapes taken at random and woven together. It is precisely in these works that the artist's own thoughts and feelings are burned into them.

It's not a moment you want to keep, nor is it a moment you have to keep. It is not a moment to be preserved, but a memory that must be recorded or it will be forgotten."
The creative freedom and lack of restrictions that only personal work can offer. However, being free from restrictions is like being confronted with the fundamental question of who you are.

Taro Mizutani
Born in Tokyo, 1975. Photographer. After graduating from Tokyo Polytechnic University, Department of Photography, he started his own career as a photographer. He has worked mainly for fashion magazines, commercial photography, and portraits of artists. In 2013, he participated in the joint photography exhibition "Trendy Photography" by four fashion photographers. In November of the same year, he held a solo exhibition "New Journal" at Gallery 916. 2016, he participated in "Contact Prints," a contact print exhibition organized by TCK at Art Photo Tokyo edition zero. In 2017, he held the photo exhibition "Chaos / Balance" at BOOKMARC to celebrate the publication of his photo book. In 2019, he participated in "LOOKIN THROUGH THE WINDOW," a collaborative exhibition of three photographers at GYRE GALLERY in Harajuku. His collections include "Here Comes The Blues" (2012), "Still Scape" (2015), and "Chaos/Balance Taro Mizutani UNDERCOVER" (2017).
