G.H. Bass is synonymous with loafers. They are the textbook shoes for the Ivy League look.
We are pleased to announce the opening of Japan's first directly managed G.H. Bass store in Aoyama, and we are surprised that it has never been opened before.
. The location is on Killer Street leading from Gaienmae Station.
Since 1954, in other words, the brand has been sold in Japan for 65 years, but no directly managed stores were ever created. In 1964, the first Olympic year, when the Ivy was very popular, there are many photos of the Miyuki tribe wearing the brand's iconic "Weejuns" loafers.
Even though fashion has changed so much in those 65 years, G.H. Bass, born in Maine, USA, has not changed in design or materials from that time. The fact that G.H. Bass has been supported for such a long time, despite the rise and fall of the Ivy and preppies, probably speaks more eloquently than anything else about the appeal of this brand.
What kind of world view does a directly managed store of a historical brand express? I am very much looking forward to it.
