The "Arceau", the root of the "Arceau 78" introduced here, was designed by Henri Deligny in 1978. Henri is one of the designers associated with Hermès, and has created many masterpieces in the field of calais and neckties.
The lugs, inspired by harness stirrups, have different shapes at the top and bottom (where the belt and bracelet are fastened), and the italicized indexes are reminiscent of a galloping horse. With its unprecedented and innovative design, the "Arceau" quickly became one of the representative watches of "Hermes".
With its 40-millimeter-diameter stainless steel case, anthracite-grained dial with cream-colored indexes, and Vaux Valenia strap, the newly redesigned Arceau 78 for 2019 can only be described as elegant in every way.
The indexes and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, a luminescent pigment. The calf strap slowly darkens as the wearer wears it, becoming more comfortable on the wrist.
The bezel is finished in titanium, contrasting with the stainless steel for a modern look.
