With a street-level store in Daikanyama, Tokyo, the company focuses on accessories.Good Goods Issey Miyake. The "WAKU" series of tote bags, an original item of this store, will have a new addition to its lineup.
First, to explain "waku", which means "frame" in Japanese, the truss structure generally used in architecture is applied to the design. It is a lightweight, self-supporting tote bag that takes advantage of the framework structure consisting of a collection of triangles. The video below will help you understand the concept.
Previously, the frame was represented by black tape, but the new canvas version unifies the colors of the body and the tape. The new bag has been updated with a more subdued look, making it easier to match with a wider range of outfits. Furthermore, a zipper has been added to the mouth, making it easier to carry in case of emergencies.
There are three colors: a vibrant burnt sienna, an easy-to-match mud brick beige, and a classy black. They will go on sale on Saturday, February 1. The products are typical of ISSEY MIYAKE, which focuses on the beauty of form and ease of use.
