The Boulogne Forest is located on the west side of the city of Paris. It is located in the middle of theFondation Louis VuittonHave you heard of the Designed by Frank Gehry and built in 2014, the museum hosts two exhibitions each year, focusing on contemporary art. Although it has already ended, a retrospective of Charlotte Perriand's work was on view until February.
This will be followed by a retrospective exhibition by Cindy Sherman, which will open on Thursday, April 2. She is an American photographer known for her self-portraits of herself. Her conceptual works, which seem to mock the viewer, are like scenes from a drama or a movie, and are somehow very captivating.
With the cooperation of Cindy herself, this retrospective exhibition features over 300 photographs, 170 works from 1975 to 2020. It includes self-portrait works as well as a new series that captures men and couples, with the early 2010s and unpublished works in particular being the highlight of the exhibition.
In addition, selected works from the museum's collection will be on display under the title "Crossing Views. With Cindy's advice, the works in this exhibition are in response to her photographs. Twenty artists, including Christian Boltanski, Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Wolfgang Tillmans, and many others, numbering approximately 60 works. Many of them will be exhibited for the first time at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
The exhibition will run until Monday, August 31. It is a real shame that it is not in Japan, but for fans of Cindy, this is an exhibition not to be missed. If you have a chance to visit Paris, it is definitely worth a visit.
