Built approximately 100 years ago as the former Kyoto Central Telephone Station, the historic and dignified "Shinpukan" will undergo a major makeover this spring.
Many modern stores will be opened, while keeping the history and traditions of the building alive, but the one that I would like to focus on from the Huinamu point of view is GLOBE SPECS KYOTO.
The space was created based on the concept of "a completely new style of optician created by antique furniture and ornaments from all over the world," and is studded with contemporary objects and artwork.
This is the first new store in 20 years, since the Daikanyama store opened in 2000, and the first in the Kansai region. The level of enthusiasm is not half bad.

As mentioned above, Shinpukan is a stately building with a century of history etched into it. In order to create a store that fits with this building, the furniture, fixtures, and decorations in the store are mainly from the 1920s, when the Shinpukan was built. All items were selected by Mr. Okada, the representative, over a period of more than one year.
Like the glasses selected from around the world, the furniture and decorations are also chosen from America, Paris, London, Czech Republic, Scandinavia, Japan, and other countries, creating a store that is not biased toward any particular atmosphere.

Kyoto store original works by SHOHEI TAKASAKI, a talented artist with a unique sense of style and coloring.
NUTS ARTWORKS, a pioneer sign painter who has worked on numerous famous stores.
The powerful old wooden objects were created by "Chibi" in Nakameguro, Tokyo.

Contemporary artist from Saitama, Japan. He will be active in Portland, Oregon, USA until spring 2019. His vibrant paintings and unique sense of color and taste fascinate viewers. For the opening of "Globespecs Kyoto," he will create a work incorporating eyewear.
SHOP SIGN / NUTS ART WORKS
He started his career as a sign painter in 1996, and is a leading sign painter who has created numerous store signs and brand graphics. His artwork, which goes far beyond the realm of signage, is breathtaking. At Globespecs Kyoto, he was in charge of the signage at the two entrances and the sign art inside the store.
Planting / Chibi
He mixed flowers, branches, fruit, and other contradictory elements to express masculine boldness and coolness in the planting. At the Globespecs Kyoto store, he was in charge of a powerful objet d'art made from an old tree in the back of the store.
