STAY HOME" and "home time" have become central to everyone's interest in spending quality time at home. In this context, I believe that the enhancement of furnishings is a high priority.
This is the second joint project by ACTUS, designer Naoto Fukasawa, and MARUNI MOKKO. The concept of the project was to create furniture of higher quality and timelessness that would be loved by people for a long time to come.

While giving the impression of being smart and light, the backrest is wider than the width of the seat, giving it a reassuring and embracing design that makes you want to lean your back against it. This lounge chair, with its spacious backrest and sculpted arms that gently support the arms, is a chair that could overturn the definition of a relaxing living room as a sofa.
The right photo shows the "AOYAMA" series released in 2013. MEGURO" on the left is an OAK frame specification.
Another feature is the frame, with its slender, elongated back legs, slightly muscular arms that connect to them, and the delicate and complex structure of each of the stakes that support each other.
The organic and smooth curves are the result of Maruni's expert carving techniques.
The following is a message from Naoto Fukasawa, who was in charge of the design. It is a bit long, but it more than conveys the thought that went into its creation, so we are publishing it in its entirety.
With sculptural shapes scattered throughout, the MEGURO lounge chair becomes the anchor for the entire story of the interior. With this chair as the axis, the rug can be this way, the lighting that way, and so on, and the individuality of MEGURO will naturally determine the interior design. And while it may seem that the front view of a chair is the most important, it is also important to look at it from the back. If the back view is not beautiful, it does not define the interior. The overall proportions and details are highly finished, and I think that is why the manufacturing process was so difficult. I think it is possible to stop having a sofa in the living room and live on lounge chairs. I think the lounge chair is by far the richer and more attractive living space. A sofa is a piece of foam, so to some extent its presence defines the interior. In that sense, I think MEGURO is a chair that contains European taste of elegance and grace. Deciding on a chair is like deciding on one's lifestyle and way of life, and MEGURO is an appropriate item to do so. It is not a transitional chair that you can change 10 years from now when your values or lifestyle changes, but a chair you can choose when you decide to live your life this way.
