Mr. Kataoka will hold a solo exhibition of his new works entitled "WELLNESS PAINTINGS. The venue is a gallery in Nakameguro, Tokyo, where culture is refreshingly boiled down and disseminated.VOILLD." Surprisingly, this is his first solo exhibition at the gallery, and we are looking forward to seeing what kind of groove he will create.

Although it is before the exhibition, we would like to specially show some of the works.

The new works, about 20 of which are oil paintings, convey the temperature of the brushstrokes and the painting materials. The main concept of the exhibition is to explore the world and people's way of being, which has become chaotic and closed due to the coronavirus, and the question of "painting," which can be said to be the root of art.

Mr. Kataoka himself once again confronted the idea of painting. He reasserted his grip on the "brush" used by his predecessors and painted as if sampling past works. He also brought in a variety of tools such as sprays, markers, and silk screens, and dared to break the tone on top of them.

The works, created after returning to the starting point of painting and reexamining the present, will transcend various boundaries such as time, country, and dimension. The exhibition opens tomorrow, July 11 (Sat.). You just have to witness it.
