Celebrities' personal items are kind of exciting, aren't they?
Starting next week, Shibuya PARCO's "POP BY JUNThe gallery will hold "Mr. Shimazu's Memory of Solitude," a collection of personal belongings by stylist Yoshiyuki Shimazu. This is the third installment of the gallery's art book fair, "Collection", and will feature a large selection of his personal items and curiosities that he has amassed over the course of half a lifetime.
The lineup is truly amazing.... I will introduce some of them with episodes in this issue. I am beyond thrilled, and I can't stop opening my mouth.
HARD WORK T-shirt
The date is the day Christopher Nemeth and Judy Brame co-showed the show. This is a staff T-shirt from that show.
J.P.GAULTIER see-through MA-1 jacket
See-through MA-1 made in the late 80's with Mickey Mouse sprayed on the back. . This item graced the cover of POPEYE.
SAMARAS "ALBUM "
A collection of photographs by Lucas Samaras, renowned for his technique of painting countless dots into nude self-portraits. . a book that symbolizes this exhibition.
Yasuji Tanioka, "Gagtopia."
Yasuji Tanioka has loved Shimazu since he was a child. He even had a collaboration T-shirt made at "UNIQLO" because he liked him so much.
JUNGLE FEVER Poster
A poster for "JUNGLE FEVER," a party hosted by the disco "PALACE" that I used to go to in Paris. One day, I secretly took off the poster and brought it home.
JUDY BLAME Instructions
For an advertising job, Mr. Shimazu asked Judy, a British designer, to make an accessory. . This is a set of instructions on how to put it on.
On the occasion of this exhibition, he offered the following words.
. it's not a perfect collection. But it would be more meaningful to pass it on to a younger generation, who are unfamiliar with that era, to use, rather than to keep it at my place.
Each and every one of them is an exquisite item, filled with experiences that only Mr. Shimazu, who travels the world, could have. The word "solitude" in the title of the book may be a way of hiding his shyness toward such very personal things.
The exhibit will open on Monday, July 13. It will be an overwhelming two weeks.
