The brand is known for its club culture-inspired designs and vivid colors reminiscent of Tokyo's neon lights, and these characteristics are on full display here as well. Let's check out some of the details.
WW TYPE01 MAGIC STICK EDITION AGAB702 ¥38,000+TAX
The inspiration for this work came from nightclubs and fine drinks, one of Mr. Konno's backbones. As a symbol of this, the hour and minute hands feature emerald blue lumibrights that glow in the dark, representing glittering neon lights.
The black metal body with a matte finish and the belt with a crocodile pattern on it give the watch a simple yet luxurious design.
The back of the watch will feature the serial number and logos of both brands, and the dial will be marked "JP EXCLUSIVE" to indicate that this is a Japan-exclusive model.
A bright neon yellow replacement band is also included, so you can change the design depending on your mood or situation. The outer box is embossed with a crocodile pattern, and the shiny foil print is a perfect example of the attention to detail that has gone into this watch.
And these key visuals were created by RK, a street photographer who is currently active around the world.
Against the backdrop of the nightclubs and fine liquors that served as the image source, RK's unique fantastical colors and strong contrasts create an elegant, adult worldview.
To celebrate the release, a digital photo exhibition will be held by five photographers who are close friends of "Magic Stick.
Leading photographers such as RK, Keita Suzuki, Masatoshi Yamashiro, Yuji Kaneko, and Matthew George Sperzel, have created two patterns of work, "DIRTY ver." and "CLEAN ver.", using vinyl records from club culture as a motif. The details have not been disclosed at this time. The details of the two works have not been revealed at this time, but the former will be exhibited at "Magic Stick" and the latter at the online site of "2dub".
The collaboration watch, the result of an encounter between these two streetwise designers, will go on sale on July 24 (Fri.). Since this is a very rare model, limited to 300 pieces in Japan, it is sure to be a hotly contested item. A special website for the digital photo exhibition will be opened to the public at the same time as the release of the watch, so we will keep our eyes peeled for further news.
