Led by jazz and white B.D. shirts. Kosuke Kawamura joined the collaboration between Blue Giant and Brooks Brothers.

"White shirts are the sign of a Jasman!!!" . This is a line uttered by Dai Miyamoto, the main character in the popular jazz manga "Blue Giant.

The comic and the B.D. shirt are synonymous with the brand, as if attracted by his words and spirits.Brooks Brothers, Inc.The company has collaborated with the other dayThis articleAs reported in the "Brooks Brothers Omotesando," the event is being held at Brooks Brothers Omotesando until November 15 (Sun.).

Blue Giant," which has sold more than 6.5 million copies in total, has completed its European edition, "Blue Giant Supreme," and at the same time has started a new edition, "Blue Giant Explorer," which takes place in the United States, the sacred land of jazz. It was a very chic collaboration to celebrate this departure by America's most historic brand.

When you arrive at the store, what catches your eye is the image of Dai Miyamoto wearing the iconic B.D. shirt of Brooks Brothers. The original story was written by Shinichi Ishizuka, the author of the original novel, for this event.

The signature logo "Golden Fleece" embroidery shines firmly on the chest.

Next to it is graphic art created by Kosuke Kawamura, a collage artist.

This time, Mr. Kawamura, who was in the store himself, explained about his work and gave us a tour of the store.

-Thank you very much for your time, Mr. Kawamura! First of all, could you tell us how you came to participate in this collaboration?

Actually, I don't usually read many manga. However, I do like music, so of course I knew the name "Blue Giant. When I heard about this project, I read all the volumes again and found it very interesting, so I decided that I definitely wanted to be a part of it.

The store displays several fan-favorite original paintings.

-What is it about "Blue Giant" that appeals to you?

We are not salaried workers in the music, manufacturing, or creative fields, so we often start our careers with no clear goal in mind. From my own experience, there are people who move to Tokyo with their friends but return to their hometowns after a few years due to setbacks or various reasons. I feel that only those who honestly believed in themselves and moved on were the ones who stayed. I felt that "Blue Giant" is very close to our world.

-I see.

I believe that unfounded confidence is strong. Miyamoto, the main character, has not yet been recognized by anyone, but he has the strength to believe in his one goal, to go out into the world. I was quite moved by that.

On the stairs leading to the second floor, there is a collage work by Kawamura. This is also a must-see.

The show window piece is innovative and, in a sense, "un-Brooks-like.

When I first came to the store after receiving this offer, I thought that I would like to make the simple shirt, which is the image of Brooks, into a white canvas and make it a part of my work, and I proposed this on the spot. I was prepared to take a chance and ask them to embroider only the words of the lines on the shirt as part of the exhibition, but they were amused by my request. It was very easy for me to do.

-Is it because there are so many impressive and powerful lines in "Blue Giant" that you were able to make this work?

Yes, I did. There were lots of strong lines and strong pictures that were as strong as the lines, so I collaged the most impactful ones as lines. I also wanted to create a multi-layered, layered presentation. The collage itself is a single picture with several layers. To make the collage look like a collage, I used three layers: the glass, the film, and the shirt. When you actually look at it, the embroidery on the shirt has a three-dimensional feel to it, and there is another layer, and I feel like they all come together nicely.

Mr. Kawamura created this shirt with an eye to how it would look when the graphics were dropped into the shirt.
During the exhibition, a silk-screen printing service is also available for shirt purchasers.

The colorful threads were intended to expand the sound.

In addition, there will be a workshop where visitors can embroider logos and quotes from the works on the spot, and several original novelty items will also be available. For those who cannot visit the store during the exhibition period, a digital art gallery where visitors can experience the event in VR is also available.onlineThe company is developing its business in the following areas.

How about wearing a Brooks Brothers shirt with a long history, and feeling like a jazzman, while enjoying the world of "Blue Giant," which is becoming even more exciting with the opening of the new series?
