Tiffany & Co. designer Elsa Peretti, who has created numerous masterpieces such as the Open Heart and the By-the-Yard, has created an unforgettable piece of jewelry: the Bone Cuff. The motif of the "Bone Cuff" is, literally, bones. The design was inspired by the ossuary of the Capuchin convent in Rome and Antonio Gaudi's Casa Mila. This bangle, which is said to have rewritten the history of modern jewelry, is still an indispensable piece for the Maison half a century later.
There are several models commemorating the 50th anniversary, but I picked up three inline models for their stoic appearance: black, charcoal-dyed copper, and sterling silver. Looking at the asymmetrical, sensual forms that fit like a part of the body, one can clearly see the appeal of the "bone cuff," which is considered an icon of 20th century jewelry design.
What is unique is that wide and narrow models are available for the left and right hands, respectively. . This is a particular attention to detail, as the form is based on ergonomics.
