DRIES VAN NOTEN has printed a collection of visionary films from the 1920s and 1940s by Len Lye, one of the most famous New Zealand artists of the 20th century.
Wren is considered one of the great pioneers of experimental animation, having invented the technique of scratching films without using a camera. He is also famous for his solarization of the human body and his technique of superimposing multiple images on an abstract picture.
Cotton shirts printed with scenes from visionary films, sheer cotton shirts that cut out graphical movements of light and shade, viscose shirts with motifs of circles and scratches... Ren's work, which is said to have spearheaded the psychedelic movement, could not be more compatible with light fabrics. Len's works, which are considered to be at the forefront of the psychedelic movement, are a perfect match for the light fabrics.
It is again the finishing touch to a midsummer evening when you want to dress up in a shirt-ich.
