About a year ago, despite their rivalry, allbirds and adidas entered into a partnership aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in the footwear industry.
And now, the first collaboration has been announced. The completed product is, of course, an earth-friendly pair that does not compromise on performance, and its name is "FUTURECRAFT.FOOTPRINT".
The ultimate goal of the partnership is "zero carbon footprint running footwear. This year's shoe has a carbon footprint of 2.94 kgCO2e per pair, making it the lowest carbon footprint shoe in history for both parties, if not zero.
Two proprietary technologies of each brand contributed to this success. The midsole is based on "Lightstrike," which is the pride of "adidas," and reconstructed with "SweetFoam®" by "Allbirds," which is made from sugarcane. This environmentally friendly natural material was implemented while taking advantage of its superior cushioning.
The upper, developed especially for this occasion, is made of Tencel, a natural material made from recycled polyester and wood pulp. It is smooth, lightweight, and has a significantly reduced carbon footprint.
The stylish silhouette and all-white coloring of the shoe's superb design give it a modern finish without giving off the sporty feel of a running shoe. The carbon footprint of "2.94" per pair is hand painted on the outside of the heel.
FUTURECRAFT.FOOTPRINT" is now accepting drawings exclusively from adiCLUB members. FUTURECRAFT.FOOTPRINT" is currently being raffled off exclusively to adiCLUB members. In addition, a limited number of 10,000 pairs will be available to the general public in the fall/winter of 2021, and the distribution volume will be further expanded in the spring/summer of 2022. It may take a little more time before they are available to us, but let's wait with bated breath.
