. sports used to be a part of our daily lives as a matter of course. Since the Corona disaster, the way it used to be has changed dramatically, with the cancellation of games and the restriction of no spectators and no cheering, and we have become acutely aware of how sports used to enrich our lives.
In this context, an exhibition of photographs by Chris Steele-Perkins and Elliott Erwitt, both members of the great "Magnum Photos" group of photographers, will be held at the Leica Gallery in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan, with the theme "Landscape with Sports".
Leica Gallery Tokyo will exhibit works by Chris Steele-Perkins, who is currently based in London and Tokyo. The exhibition features 14 works focusing on people celebrating sports in various locations from stadiums to schoolyards in Central America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world.
At the Leica Gallery Kyoto, on the other hand, Elliott Erwitt will exhibit 15 photographs of people and scenery living with sports from his unique perspective. The works are sure to evoke a sense of wit and humor, as exemplified by his eponymous "dog.
The event will be held from Wednesday, June 2, 2012.
