Seiko introduces a new diver's watch. The secret of its masculine appearance lies in its strap.

This year, SEIKO celebrates the 140th anniversary of its founding. This long-established watchmaker is proud of its famous diver's watches.

The first time it appeared in Japan was 56 years ago. It was the year after the Tokyo Olympics, a symbol of postwar reconstruction, and the beginning of the Izanagi economic boom. The first Japanese-made diver's watch was born in such an era and adorned the wrists of professional divers and adventurers around the world, and is said to have been the starting point of this manufacturer's special watches.

For the first time in Seiko's long history of divers' watches, two models with fabric straps will be released.

. One is the "SBDC141," which is based on a diver's watch introduced in 1965. The other is the "SBDC143," which is based on a model introduced in 1970 , and features a unique streamlined case.

The fabric strap used for each watch is not a military watch strap, but a special strap made with a traditional Japanese technique called "Seibo," which is used for obijime, a belt used to tie a kimono sash. These straps are not only strong and durable, but are also highly breathable and resistant to deterioration even when exposed to ultraviolet rays for long periods of time. Furthermore, by weaving the strap into a bag shape, it has a pleasant feel not found in ordinary woven straps. Both models come in two colors, which is a great value for money.
