“Levi's®.The Orange Tab Collection will be reissued starting Friday, March 24, 2012. This collection was born at the height of the hippie movement, a time when opinions calling for peace and spiritual liberation from the established culture and system were on the rise. Rather than the Red Tab items, which evolved from work clothes, the fashionable Orange Tab items were popular among young people at the time.
The Orange Tab collection's design features orange tabs, two more belt loops than usual, and two-needle stitching to avoid selvedges.
The point of this reissue, however, is that it is not a "perfect reproduction" of the 1960s and 1970s designs, but rather an update to make it easier to wear today. The designs are not nostalgic, as was the case about 50 years ago, but rather are geared toward today's youth.
