ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH, a creative project launched in 2001, involves the participation of product designers active around the world. The project has produced iconic timepieces such as "O," "TO," and "ROKU.
The newest model of this line, "ELLIPSE," created by Naoto Fukasawa, was recently introduced. As the name "ELLIPSE" means "ellipse," this new model adopts an oval case, which is rare for a wristwatch.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH, an exhibition focusing on "ELLIPSE" is being held in Kyoto.
The event was held at "KURA," a gallery attached to the Kyoto store of ISSEY MIYAKE. The space with a calm atmosphere based on "black ink color" was designed by Mr. Fukasawa, the designer of "ELLIPSE".
The exhibition will reveal how Fukasawa arrived at the "elliptical clock" and how he realized it as a product through a video interview with Fukasawa, who says, "Finding interesting shapes is my daily life.
The exhibition is designed to immerse visitors in the world of "ISSEY MIYAKE" and allow them to experience the charm of "ELLIPSE," so if you are in the area, please visit the exhibition. The exhibition will run until August 22 (Sun.).
