The project was initiated by "Imazoe Laugh Shop," a joint venture formed by Hiroshi Imai, known as the owner of "Mansai Nagasaki" and "Udon Ai," and Shinya Soeda, who runs an apparel business. The restaurant was created as a sister restaurant to "Shibuya Hanjishita Bar," which is bustling with young people every day, and says it aims to be a space loved by people of all ages.
Teppan-yaki Handagaya is marked by a blue awning and lanterns. The L-shaped counter and tatami room spread out beyond the noren (curtain), and the design, which was inspired by the atmosphere of the previous teishoku-ya (set meal restaurant), gives the restaurant a modern yet familiar feel.
The menu features yakisoba, monjayaki, and okonomiyaki with secret sauces. The monjayaki, in particular, is offered with original flavors such as cream stew and pickled scallion in rice wine (‼︎). Don't miss the "oyster peas" and "deep-fried and soaked eggplant" offered as a la carte dishes. The alcohol menu is also extensive, and in addition to beer and sours, customers can order naturals wines that go well with teppan dishes.
Teppanyaki Handagaya is a restaurant that can be enjoyed in a rough and ready atmosphere for a variety of situations, from solo dining to couples and group use. Lunch is being served in advance, and the grand opening is scheduled for April 8 (Fri.).
