Shin Ultraman" is a movie planned and written by Hideaki Anno and directed by Shinji Higuchi .

The film is still shrouded in mystery before its nationwide release on May 13 (Fri.), but it has been announced that its theme song will be sung by Genji Yonezu.

Based on Yonezu's idea, Anno made a request, and the title of the new song that came together was "M Hachijunana" ("M 87").

It was decided from the early stages of the film's production that a theme song would be added to the film, and Mr. Yonezu's name came up unanimously among the production team, Mr. Anno, and Director Higuchi, and the offer was made. Yonezu himself is a fan of Anno's works such as "Shin Godzilla" and the "Evangelion" series, and as a fan of "Shin Ultraman," which had already been announced at the time, he had high expectations for the film, which led to this collaboration.

The moment I heard about the theme song, I thought, "There must be some mistake.
When I was watching Shin Godzilla many times in the theater and when Shin Ultraman was first announced, I never dreamed that I would be involved, and it was a bolt out of the blue.

The single "M87," written by Genji Yonezu, will be released on Wednesday, May 18.
