The Pola Museum of Art, which opened in 2002, has held various special exhibitions based on the collection collected by Tsuneji Suzuki, the second generation of Pola's founding family, over a period of about 40 years after the war.
This year, the museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and is currently holding its largest commemorative exhibition to date. The title of the exhibition is "From Monet to Richter - Works from the New Collection.
This exhibition consists of two parts: the first part combines works from Tsuneji Suzuki's collection with those from the new collection, and the second part introduces works by artists who were not in the previous collection and who connect the modern and contemporary periods. The second part of the exhibition will feature a number of artists who are in the collection of the Pola Museum of Art for the first time.
The main theme of the exhibition was "light. Many works related to light are on display, from the Impressionists to the present day, including works by Monet and Renoir, who depicted the changing light, Gerhard Richter, who expressed "shine" (light, a temporary image) with layers of paint, Kerith Wyn Evans, who used neon tubes, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, who captured the color of light itself. The exhibition will be held at the museum's main entrance.
Enjoy the changing expressions of light with the passage of time in a space surrounded by a forest that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. The exhibition will be open until September 6 (Tuesday).
