〈MHL.Cotton Wool Drill Blouson ¥53,900, ,Dry merino wool vest ¥24,200(All in MHL.)
The knit vest is a unique piece with a distinctive neckline. With its relaxed fit, it can be worn as a layering item to expand your range of outfits. Even the simple jersey knit is made of high quality merino wool, which gives it a rich expression and a luxurious feel.
I was conscious of the unique balance of the vest, short-sleeved T-shirt, and long gloves as accents that would make the other party gasp when the blouson was taken off.
〈MHL.Blouson ¥53,900, ,Vest ¥24,200, ,T-shirt ¥15,400, ,Trousers ¥27,500, ,Belt ¥22,000(All in MHL.)
This blouson with a classical mood is inspired by the US Navy's waterproof jacket. The boxy silhouette, raglan sleeves, and distinctive pockets follow the military style, while the fly front with dotted buttons and nuanced gray color add a fresh feel. The compact length creates a mode-like impression while elegantly complementing any bottoms.
By using fluffy wool for the warp and thick cotton for the weft, a distinct denim-like twill pattern is created. The reverse side is modestly brushed to provide a warm and fleshy feel against the skin. MHL.'s typical jackets and vests, which move freely between elegance and roughness, are expressed in a contemporary way through Mr. Ida's filter.
The blouson is well-tailored with a vintage look, basic and very elegant. I wanted to translate the good sense of austerity into the coolness and sex appeal of today's men, and I imagined a delinquent. I kept the innerwear rough with a T-shirt and knit, while adding fashion elements with a pair of Ray-Ban wayfarers and half-finger knit gloves.
〈MHL.Warn Cotton Wool Twill Blouson ¥46,200(MHL.)
With the 80's blouson as its design source, the ribbed collar and sleeves, and zippered front, it is designed to be useful as a light outerwear with a shirt-like feel. The patch pockets on the chest are designed with a slanted mouth, creating a subtle point of interest. With its boxy silhouette, it can be enjoyed with a variety of bottom shapes, from slim to wide, straight to flared. Both the warp and weft are made of cotton-wool blend yarn, and the twill shading created when the fabric is dyed gives it a tasteful look. The fabric is then washed and rubbed to create a vintage look and feel. Mr. Ida says he likes to mix and match vintage-like styles. Here are some tips on how to dress in this style that you can copy right away!
〈MHL.Blouson ¥46,200(MHL.), other personal items of the stylist
The keywords "classic" and "retro" are trendy at the moment, and it is precisely because of this that "90's" and "old-timey idol" feelings are so exciting and fresh. It feels fresh and new. This blouson has a texture similar to moleskin and has a strong presence. Because the outerwear is so classic, the sporty design of the T-shirt as innerwear and the flared bush jeans as trousers are just right for a more casual look, and that's what makes them feel more current. To play up the casual look, I added a pair of black opera shoes, creating a slightly different feel to the casual look.
〈MHL.CANTON FOR MHL. jacket ¥46,200, ,CANTON FOR MHL. trousers ¥33,000(All in MHL.)
Mr. Ida recommends, "The jacket and trousers are made of 13.75 oz. denim, a light and soft material made of organic cotton, and should definitely be worn as a set-up. CANTON" original denim is a perfect combination of vintage elements and modern functionality, with the delicate fading that appears as the wearer wears it and the pure indigo blue color. The carefully finished backside and the use of two different types of stitching threads, golden brown and navy, for each detail are also points of attention.
Based on the work jacket style, the relaxed box silhouette is retained, while the simple tuck-button front and waist pockets are finished without sewing the sides together, creating a piece that shines with ease of use and attention to detail, while maintaining the work look and feel.
The trousers are modeled after the proportions of vintage overalls bottoms as a design source. They feature a slightly slim, tapered silhouette, vertical back pockets that are positioned lower than usual, cinch belts, and other high-impact details.
〈MHL.Jacket ¥46,200, ,Trousers ¥33,000, ,Hat ¥9,900, ,Scarf ¥9,900(All in MHL.)
I wanted these finished denim items to be worn as a personalized set-up, and I wanted to create a modern look with the sophisticated work-like feel I felt when I saw the look. I wanted to make it look more like a dressy set-up, so I thought I would just wear it bare and add a beret and scarf (laughs). However, in order to present it as everyday wear, I took it down a notch by removing it with an old ringer T to complement the classy set-up."
