Ebisu's "curating various forms of art, looking at the past, present, and future with a flat perspective.POST". POST" will now publish a reprint of "Screen Tests / A Diary" by Andy Warhol and Gerard Malanga, originally published in 1967.

A small description of the masterpiece "Screen Tests / A Diary", which is considered to be of great significance in the context of contemporary art and art photography.

In the 1960s, Andy Warhol's Manhattan studio "Factory" became a salon where Warhol's friends and acquaintances, including Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, Truman Capote, and Allen Ginsberg, would gather day and night. It became the center of the New York cultural scene.

Screen Tests" is a video work in which Warhol and photographer Malanga took visitors at the "Factory" and shot bust-ups of them with a fixed 16mm camera.

Screen Tests/A Diary" is a collection of photographs printed from some of these films and prose poems by Maranga, who was also a poet.

At the time, the book sold very little, and several years after its publication, publishers who had excess stock had to cut it down and dispose of it. As a result, the number of copies in existence is extremely small, and it has become a rare book that costs more than 500,000 yen on the antiquarian book market.

This work is also a collection of portraits of people who built American culture in the 1960s, and in that sense, it is a very valuable art book. We are very pleased that the book has been reprinted in 2017, the 50th anniversary of its first publication.

This reissue is available only in Japan and is the only one available in the world.

An exhibition consisting of an installation with portrait photographs and prose poems from this book will also be held at "POST".

Don't miss this rare record of art that came to fruition half a century ago.
