Finally, the quadrennial soccer festival, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has begun.
While this is an event that soccer fans have been waiting for, it is also true that the World Cup has been plagued with various problems, such as allegations of fraud in the bidding process and human rights violations against foreign workers at stadium construction sites. In Japan, there is a lack of enthusiasm for the World Cup.
The recently released special issue of "SHUKYU Magazine" features people who are "fanatical" about soccer in various ways, while considering the current state of soccer. From Japan's leading active players, to a New York community whose creators have been active for 20 years, to soccer as seen from the aspects of fashion, art, design, and games, the contents of this special issue offer a variety of fascinating aspects of soccer.
And it doesn't stop there. "SHUKYU Magazine" has prepared a variety of contents to coincide with the World Cup.
One such event is a limited-time pop-up store at the Popularity gallery and studio in Harajuku. The event, titled "Harajuku Football Market," will feature a special issue of SHUKYU Magazine as mentioned above, as well as magazines, apparel, and sundries from around the world that can only be purchased here, One-of-a-kind items by "BENE," a vintage soccer uniform store, and coffee and original items by "Baggage Coffee" will be available for purchase. The exhibition will be held from November 21 to 27.
Those who purchase products at this event can customize their own uniforms and T-shirts with original patches and sheets for free. They can customize not only items purchased at the venue, but also items brought from home.
In addition, a triple collaboration between "SHUKYU" and artist E-WAX was realized as the third installment of "TOKYO ENERGY," a project by adidas focusing on Tokyo.
Based on the classic "MUNDIAL TEAM" soccer shoe, the "1996 PREDETOR TOUCH" features a bendable sole as an accent. When the shoe's tongue is folded, the "adidas" embroidery designed by E-WAX is also a key point.
These are now on sale at adidas directly-managed stores, BILLY'S ENT stores, and limited-edition ABC-MART GRAND STAGE stores.
