With a background in anime and other subcultures, YOKOSAKATATSUYA is known for his works that incorporate the technique of celluloid painting on canvas. Recently, he became a man of the moment by creating artwork for Gen Hoshino.
Yokosakatatsuya will hold his second solo exhibition "Hataraku Kuruma" at "MAT gallary" in Omotesando starting Saturday, December 3. The theme of this exhibition is "extinction. The main visual is a tribute to "that" dress-up sticker that everyone was once crazy about.
The nostalgia-inducing retro design incorporates funny motifs and various cultural references that he may have been influenced by.
Towel with BOX ¥6,000
This is a limited quantity of goods prepared for this exhibit. Inside the box, which resembles a plastic model package, is a towel that resembles a fictitious instruction manual with instructions on how to assemble the model. The attention to detail in the design of the box and instruction manual is unintentionally charming.
Sticker ¥2,000
Stickers are also available. At first glance, these are dress-up stickers that add color to your car, but upon closer inspection, you may notice dried laundry or ghosts. The unique arrangement of the stickers, unique to Yokosakata Tsuya, stands out.
If the main visuals have tugged at your geek or otaku heartstrings, even just a little, please visit the event. You will surely enjoy it.
