THE ROW, which takes its name from London's Savile Row, literally pursues the highest standards of tailoring and fabrics.
The Row was founded by Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen in 2006, making its runway debut at New York Fashion Week in 2010 and winning the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award in 2012. In 2006, the brand launched its menswear collection.
Their appeal can be summed up in one word: crystal-clear, clean design work. The minimalist patterns clearly highlight the particulars mentioned above.
The stitch-less collar and the winged tailoring certainly pay homage to Savile Row. Even the most seasoned tailors would be impressed.
The textures that look like vintage are the result of carefully selected cotton that has been washed.
But what can't be overlooked is the New Yorker's breath of fresh air. Boxy, short, front-zip jackets with patch pockets, or mid-rise cropped pants with metal slider belts through them - the feel is effortless.
AMONETO JACKET
The shirt jacket creates this beautiful look by eliminating stitching at the collar and stitching the front patch pockets 1 mm from the edge. The subtle use of leather for the zip handles is another feature. ¥273,900
EARL PANT
The pants, made of the same fabric as the shirt jacket, have a straight, uncluttered silhouette with a center press. The belt with metal sliders is detachable. Slash pockets on the sides and flap pockets on the back. ¥174,900
